I'll one up him in condemnation of PC attitudes: this is only a logical extension of brainmush we've all become used to.

It has perhaps analogies with Byzantine politics. The trick there was to demonise people. This they did by going through their published works, looking for material which could be made to sound heretical, drawing up a list, accurate or not, and calling this (if their name was Macedonius) 'Macedonianism'. Then demanding that they recant, and that all their supporters condemn Macedonius. Once done, of course, no views by Macedonius could be heard, reasonable or not; demonisation was the object, and disenfranchisement.
The tactics of PC people -- creating ever more groups who may only be mentioned in positive terms -- seem remarkably similar in method and approach.
