The driving force of campus liberalism

From what I've seen so far, I'd say yes, this campus is liberal, but the driving force behind that fact is students. A run down of observations so far:

-A few days ago, fliers went up for a study group called "Education: Liberatory and Oppressive," described as "A community study group of criticality and literacy in an exploration of education's role in perpetuating and challenging the status quo." Definitely seemed to be promoting a view point. My initial thought was this was something set up by professors, but no, it was organized by some upper classmen, and apparently any students can organize a similar group.

-Yesterday, one of my classmates informed me that he was looking into joining the College Democrats, considered a right-of-center organization around here.

-Today, I picked up a copy of one student newspaper, the Badger Herald, which contained two editorials of note. The first attacked the idea of liberal professors, had this juicy bit:
Despite majoring in political science and journalism, I have taken only one class with an obvious political slant, and (contrary to popular belief) it did not call for a bloody revolution resulting in a dictatorship of the proletariat. Instead, it called for a laissez-faire system of government I had thought rendered moot during the Hoover administration.
The second talked about "the University of Wisconsin and its esteemed School of Liberal Indoctrination," but the spefic complaints were about treatment from other students (I think - not sure who controls the student dinner group).

More observations to follow.
